Not Masterbate Blue Balls

Ubuntu 10.10 is available!

In a previous post last March I mentioned the fact that there was a strong chance that future supercomputers in the Top500 use the computing power of current graphics processors to achieve a lower acquisition cost and consumption peaks TOP500 ...
Well this is it is done China joins the June 2010 ranking of the most powerful supercomputers in the world (the famous Top500 ) with three supercomputers! And not just any attention, or place it directly these new clusters in the top 20 (19th, 7th and 2nd place) with a second input of play is very impressive, and especially what does is probably just the beginning, I am ready to bet that before the end of the year China is likely to place even higher.

:

"... The system is capable of operating at a speed of 1.271 petaflop per second. A petaflop is a quadrillion operations per second. In theoretical speed, or maximum, can operate Nebulae up to 2.98 petaflops per second, which would make the supercomputer fastest in the world ...."
ago in my humble opinion three conclusions to be drawn:

The Middle Kingdom did not stop surprising us in innovation and technology Linux dominates this segment largely very demanding with more than 90% market share. Microsoft is totally insignificant (barely 1%) If into account in addition to the arrival of low cost devices that are also increasingly equipped with different versions of Linux (Android, Chrome OS Meego Intel & Nokia) and usability of desktop Linux distributions such as Ubuntu and Mint or else it is very unlikely that Microsoft stock is a very appropriate choice in a portfolio. And what of the iCT officials who insist on paying a fortune to do less well as free software with instances of Sharepoint you want in here. The next budget cuts will hurt very badly for all those who did not see the oncoming wind and the wave will be swept by the Free that is increasingly plsu as the only viable and sustainable in the time on ICT. The widespread adoption of OpenCL and Cuda will accelerate the adoption of GPUs from Nvidia and ATI as computing device for ultra-powerful price-performance ratio
ridiculous. And the paradigm of programming massively parallel goes even emerge as the chalenge to face in the years ahead.
