Hercules & Love Affair – Blue Songs (Moshi Moshi)

Hercules & Love Affair - Blue Song (Moshi Moshi)

Genre: House, Disco, Electronic

Released: January 31

"Because I feel blind ...." They are far, these beautiful words. Time (2008), where Antony Hegarty (of Antony & the Johnsons The) uplifted the title "Blind", which propelled the then neo-group Hercules & Love Affair at the top of the charts and on the front of the scenes dancefloor . Time to put held a "queer" at will, many roamed the lawn while drinking contaminated head and danced in the air, blinded by the disco ball, not seeing the smile of the girl next door and to experience a warm This gorgeous "Blind."

head elsewhere, I say. Immersed in the magnificence of a title which excluded almost de facto the rest of the album. This heartfelt collaboration with Antony gave us legitimately entitled to expect a new album quality. Give us the house, good dance music of 90s, clubbers sweat, electrified the humidity of the cellars, the sharp smell of smoke and ash that the happiness of letting go dancing anyway.

is what I expected from Hercules & Love Affair on the next "Blue Song". A dance-house smell that smells musty. It is a good start with "Painted Eyes", the chant that reeks of homecoming, with its synth-supported, oddly disco, his violins and the occasional voice t'enchante. The formula seems to work again. But the sauce falls quickly, with an album that focuses on only a few titles to emerge from time to time. Nothing really out of the lot, the album is same languid, a tad annoying to not tell the time of a few titles. Even the crickets "Blue Song" leave us in our hunger, without actually entering fully into the subject, if at all.

is "Falling" which we flanks a swig of vodka, pure and gives us hope that the evening is not complete. It flies easily over time of a security brass synthetic burst out laughing: pants' leg ef "shirt and shining. Ready to leave the Pento, immediately placed in the pocket. As the following title, "I Can not Wait", and his glitch-pop-house rather convoluted, it was very difficult to wait for the album, already after a few disappointments.

So "Step Up", which begins over Corona in the soul, which goes almost to reconnect us with the album. Again, this title with guest Kele Okereke, really hard to convince. Remains "Visitor", more electro-futuristic, then resumed Sterling Void, "It's Alright." The problem recurs, it is partially butchered, left unattended on a sidewalk dirty, no rhythm to accompany it. It thus closing an album with the taste of the evening, not missed, but not frankly successful. Damage. Although we will probably return at the next party by Andy Butler and Kim Ann Foxman.

NB: As you can see below, the entire album is listenable on SoundCloud .

Buck 65 – 20 Odd Years (WEA)

Buck 65-20 Odd Years (WEA)

Genre: Hip-Hop

Released: February 1

Throughout the year 2010, Buck 65 has made four digital EP in the series "20
odd years" and a DVD featuring some of his live performances and a long interview with the artist. This series was his way of celebrating his 20 years in hip hop. 20 years during which Buck constantly evolved and offered a varied music, alternating between joy and melancholy, driven by beats from hip hop to country gross.

Between his first attempts (including "Square" or "Man Overboard") and its most recent disks (such as "Secret House Against the World" or "Location") evolution is evident. I do not say it better is a matter of taste, but it evolves; Buck 65 does not stagnate and constantly renewed. While retaining its identity.

To top this series of PE, Richard Terfry whose real name is about to release an album that gathers many of the titles in the series "20 odd years", plus some unreleased.
To accompany him on this anniversary album, the MC has invited his friends to come and push the song. It will include Gord Downie, Jenn Grant, Marie-Pierre Arthur, John Southworth and others. There are even featuring Olivia Ruiz (Buck has long lived in Paris).

In my personal opinion, Buck 65 is an MC you need to know. Whether you're a fan of hip hop or not. His deep voice, his phrasing, his beats, his live performances, daring musical are many reasons to consider her work which may not have always been exceptional, but who at least has the merit of having always been quality and, as mentioned above, has never involved a perpetual repetition of a formula that works.

After 20 years in hip hop and its twenty CDs (he released an album in general a year and a few EP), Canada does not stop it and it makes us understand with this "20 Odd Years", the first album of a new decade in which Buck 65 does not seem to rest on its laurels.

The album will be available in vinyl, CD and digital. More packages (without interest) are offered with a baseball signed (Buck is a former pro player) and other goodies like that ...

Fowatile – Fowatile (Biscuits Records)

Fowatile - Fowatile (Cookie Records)

Genre: Hip-Hop, Dub, Electronic

Released: January 20

is the last time that I ponds on a small text Fowatile, the new sensation hip-hop-electro-dub now. Four boys, including an MC and three musicians. The group is somewhat unusual in that no sample is used: each role.

David on keyboards, Greg on drums electronic Benjamin triturated maliciously sounds in every direction, and finally MC Elby Dillinger. The most impressive in the group seems to be quite breathtaking live performances apparently. Each plays his instrument, and Benjamin fun then apply different effects on the sounds, thus playing almost every time different songs.

Oscillating between energetic music, and sound dub calmer, Fowatile differs at least by several of these aspects. Personally I did not appreciate at all, but the general atmosphere at least deserves a good listen. Before seeing the band perform live.

Below is a little teaser that gives a good mind anyway!

The Streets – Computers & Blues (679 / Vice)

The Streets - Computers & Blues (679 / Vice)

Genre: Hip-Hop, Garage, Electronic

Released: February 7

I left Mike Skinner aka The Streets on his previous album "Everything IS Borrowed "in 2008. Although criticized for its lack of depth, as for me I had quite enjoyed the benefit of the MC English, but it reaches the heights of the first "Original Pirate Material". There are however small jewelry pieces such as "I Love You More" and "On The Flip Of A Coin".

one thing left now is Certainly, this next "Computers & Blues" is the last of the series, at least under the name The Streets. Suffice to say that the expectations created by this future wafer is more than great; columnists are ready to draw their feathers if the acid level is not raised after the relative disappointment of "Everything Is Borrowed .

And unfortunately, in my case, I am far from being filled by the first title in play here, "Going Through Hell." I hope with all my heart that this single selected to ensure the promotion of the album is not representative. For listening also boring choruses throughout the length of a disc may quickly readjust it deep in my stack of CDs.

Mike Skinner about himself does not change the old ways, hammering the flow so special that has ensured his ascension. Well, in the meantime, I cross my fingers that The Streets series ends this album in style. Mike ... please do

Compilation Planet Mu (Planet Mu)

Compilation Planet Mu (Planet Mu)

Genre : Various

Released: January 31

To celebrate the new year as the famous Planet Mu label released a compilation at the end of the month. Attention, it includes of course not all artists on the label (which must be about 125), but only those who have had a news item in 2010.

And we lucky that we are small, will be entitled to four exclusive unreleased tracks, which can already pre-listen on the label website. These pieces are signed by Oriol with "Solar," Solar Bears on "To Be With Her," the whirring Boxcutter "featuring Brian Greene for a" Ufonik " and finally Zygaldo Rudi, who signs the super song "Hooray for Captain Balding, not least of which is strange ...

Aside from some extra-terrestrial cited above, there are some figures from the label, FaltyDL, Ceephax or Floating Points. I'm in listening to these songs, and compilation has the merit of being relatively homogeneous, while leaving room for obsessive musical tendencies of each.

In any case, the opportunity to be a pretty panel of the label, staggered over the year 2010. To consume without moderation.

Season's Greetings Texts

Cut Copy - Zonoscope (Modular Recordings)

Cut Copy - Zonoscope (Modular Recordings)

Genre: Pop, Electronic, New Wave

Released: February 7

Basically, it's a Cut Copy dude, Dan Whitford, who has made a simple solo EP. Then it became a group of three musicians who offer their music through a mixture damn good pop, new wave and electronic music. Their first two albums were a lot of noise, and the band quickly managed to create a reputation and a good fanbase.

Highly anticipated, this third album is, according to the group, what they have achieved far more successful. The disc artwork is superb, made by Japanese Tsunehisa Kimura: the vision of a New York waters engulfed not prefigure the guideline of the disc and the tour that will ensue (which is already filled almost everywhere).

The disc will be available from us on February 7, signed on label Modular. In the meantime, I leave you with "Where I'm Going," first single was revealed some time ago already.

Detached - Well Spent Youth (Pampa records)

Detached - Well Spent Youth (Pampa records)

Genre : Techno, Electronica

Released: January 21

Rajko Müller aka Isolated left an indelible mark on electronic music when his first album was released in 2000, "Rest," a kind of musical UFO, turns a bit so far as he was in the field by providing a copy to the production house, the original keys twirling on what some called microhouse. Isolated deliver one layer in 2005 by offering "We Are Monster," a second album in the tradition of his predecessor.

Over five years later, the German is preparing to release third album, "Youth Well Spent," on the label Pampa Records (label of DJ Koze). I'm not going to lie, I have not had the opportunity to put your ear on this cake. In contrast, what I hear, the album seems to disappoint many of his fans.

After a long absence (with some excellent EPs), is expected to Detached turning. Now it seems that the producer is closed in on itself, or rather it is his music that has closed in on itself, which has become too wise, too contemplative. The album always seems to enjoy flawless execution, but there would that little touch of madness which adorned his previous productions.

note, the album is not necessarily bad, it is simply not up to what these six years of near silence allowed for hope. We'll know more in a few days.

Anyway's discography is very Detached good, I encourage everyone to listen to old songs, especially the two aforementioned albums and maxi "The Fantastic Researches Of Yushin Maru."

Jozif - Sunrise EP (Infinity)

Jozif - Sunrise EP (Infinity)

Genre Electronics, Electronica

Released: January 17

Both say immediately, I'm not quite sure about the information on the release date. Indeed, this EP was planned, rejected, and re-announced for January 17. I'm not even sure it's called "Sunrise." But that seems the most logical.

short, these past few vaguely ethical considerations, let us on the artist: DJ, producer, remixer English. Jozif is part of a sort of new wave is in town and is expected to hurt clubbers.

Instigator of music ranging from electro hardline and more abstract electronica, we lay Jozif music often glossed and "textured" quite captivating if not charming. Production wraps you the time of a song, you're lulled like the first day on melodies that take their time to grow and form a coherent whole. We go from minimalism to draft a more complete expression of a time piece, you swallow your saliva as you bite your lips, torn between emotion keyboards, violins, and the charisma of a web mail busty omnipresent.

Jozif manages to slip me this strange feeling of almost remastered sound, out of another era and then revived in the day. 2011 should be his year. In any case, the Parisian clubs have understood, with some dates not to be missed for his passage to France.

Tim Hecker - Ravedeath, 1972 (Kranky Records)

Tim Hecker - Ravedeath, 1972 (Kranky Records)

Genre: Ambient Released

February 14

Throughout his career, Tim Hecker has enriched his music. Substantive work for the search of his ultimate. Here there is no question of making people dance or sing an air shower. Hecker creates an ambience that is both simple and complex texture that polishes since its inception to deliver a music "ambient" intelligent and accomplished.

After his debut under the name tokens, at which Tim Hecker Laid launched long minimal techno, a misdemeanor with a sound almost post-rock album with his "Haunt Me, Haunt Me Do It Again", where he introduced instruments new to his music, different collaborations for dance performances and contemporary art sound installations, Tim Hecker has become one of the most emblematic figures of ambient music.

February 14 release their new album entitled "Ravedeath, 1972" on Kranky records. A new stage in his musical journey that will take us back to other horizons, head in the cotton, dreamy thoughts and wings in the back.

Braids - Native Speaker (Kanine Records)

Braids - Native Speaker (Kanine Records)

Genre: Pop, Folk, Electronic

Released: January 18

Calgary to Montreal, the four insolent Braids have succeeded as an epic musical geographically. Braids is already part of those groups which will be discussed a lot in 2011. The first single, "Lemonade", has meanwhile already toured the world web more than once.

Would I feel the hands of the beginning of the year? We must admit that first impressions are more than satisfactory. I limit myself to some music and MySpace. But the universe is then suspended in an electronic cocoon mixed with many influences. Braids flirts with several styles conventional, without departing from the rank of pop music to folk, jazz, rock and smashed bits of string.

The result appears to be homogeneous. Enough air, detached. First, it is the singer and guitarist Raphael Standell-Preston show off, dominating the debate and bringing the group on a cloud. Probably thanks to this voice perched like a Björk, slightly less exuberant. The album

Native Speaker has taken two years to prepare for lay seven tracks (which is rather disappointing, but good). It is now very close to being launched, and apparently will be quite different, sometimes minimalist, sometimes repetitive and hypnotic. Bet it will be original and a beauty that seems already evident.

Does Putting Coke On Your Gum Get You High

Top 2010: the timeless music of the year

To start 2011, and set aside the nostalgia of the year just ended , Adikt offers a selection of music has nothing to do with 2010. This is our way of wishing you a happy new year music, full of surprises, warmth, emotion and spirit. Here is a compilation of songs that never die; few titles attached to our ears as we listened loop, sometimes neglecting the hundreds of novelties from the previous year. Music timeless and inevitable.

Jigsaw Soul - Cockroach Hotel

It made me listen to the music that was like a small revelation. A singer, a magnificent voice, removed, as timeless. The slow climbing is superb, the clip majestic. The images seem to emerge from a bygone era, I was torn between wonder and melancholy melody on this child, quiet, gentle. Damn, I will lose my life, what kind of title. Small information excluded: the singer plans an album in 2011, with a beatmaker.

Gnarls Barkley - Who's Gonna Save My Soul

Here is a name that will speak to everyone. But frankly, who listened to the album by Gnarls Barkley from start to finish? Personally, I am incapable and I assume. Past few titles bling-bling somewhat easy, not my cam frankly, you come across a gem, perfectly cut. Music blinds you with its 1000 facets. Gnarls Barkley released a title, huge, breathtaking beauty. Magical.

Al & Duke - The lions live in the bush

lions live in the bush, track number 3 "Operation Freestyle Cut Killer. Ten years later and I still remember it. Al & Duke synthesizes the golden age of French rap. Rap real and authentic, the that made us love the sound at the base of everything here at Adikt!

Townes van Zandt - Waitin around to die

Rarely in my life, I heard music as emotional. As long as you understand English, we walk hand in a bag on his back, waiting to cross at the death of a detour road, road. Townes Van Zandt, his golden voice, his charisma giant, is also a musical genius. And this old man, crying while listening to singing. I shudder. In a transcendent beauty.

13 & God - Perfect Speed

Huge blow to the heart. Subjectively, 13 & God is the best collaboration Doseone (with Marcus Archer), signed best record on Anticon. In billions of light years away from what he was doing at the time. An ultimate blend of pop, electro and hip-hop that touched the stars ... and the button again.

Blaze Foley - Clay Pigeons

Like Townes Van Zandt, Blaze Foley manages to convey a great deal of emotion, a touch of poetry, a hint of intoxication, through titles like Clay Pigeons. The singer-songwriter, pending his beard, his hat cowboy and his piercing eyes, oscillates between blues and country music of the coolest ways.

Todor & Petru
What
slap! Internship project of 5 students at Gobelins on his "Judgement Day" by The Thunderclaps. One of the best clips that I had the opportunity to see. The image kills, animations are terrible, and his beats. Only negative point: it is much too short!

John Surman - Edges of Illusion

Icon modernization, John Surman is one of the few to have started in music by the sax and clarinet, then s' be gradually turned to synthesizers. As such, "Edges of Illusion" is a perfect example of grace, the agreement between instruments and machines of the devil. John Surman blends and extra ordinary reality and the unthinkable, background music mystical stressful and enveloping. Over 10 minutes of wandering state. Here's what awaits you.

Creedence Clearwater Revival - I Put a Spell on You

Here is another gem Music, a monumental slap technique, a skyscraper that t 'hard ears, you plant a dagger in the heart emotionally. Rare are the times that I like, but it is an example to follow. A magnificent cathedral, an edifice erected to the glory of madness. Incomparable.
